FMCSA PORTAL
SETUP
The FMCSA requires all Motor Carriers to have ACTIVE FMCSA Portal by May 14, 2026.

Enroll in a fully managed portal today to
easily maintain compliance with U.S. DOT and FMCSA requirements.

Create FMCSA Portal

Federal Applications Processor provides full-service account oversight, including ongoing management of the portal, verification that all required information is accurate and properly maintained. This process helps ensure that the designated Company Official is properly assigned, account access is preserved, and all compliance-related data remains current and aligned with FMCSA requirements. Safeguards are also in place to prevent common issues such as account deactivation, loss of access, or unintended deletion, which can disrupt operations or delay required filings.

ABOUT THE
PORTAL

The portal will link your DOT number to the Clearinghouse account, so the FMCSA has access to the information. If the DOT number is not linked to the Clearinghouse, a company risks loosing access to their account.

WHY IS THE
PORTAL IMPORTANT?

The portal provides secure access to company information that is on file with the FMCSA. A username and password is needed to access the account.

Industry users have access the Agency's existing information systems and have easy access to safety data about the companies regulated by the FMCSA through the portal.

FMCSA PORTAL & MOTUS

FMCSA is launching Motus in 2026 — a new online dashboard that will serve as the central platform for all carrier registration actions. As this mandatory transition approaches, operational priorities for motor carriers remain focused on maintaining active fleets and uninterrupted business operations, rather than managing evolving government systems and administrative requirements.

FMCSA compliance and registration services are available to assist with Motus portal setup, including ensuring the USDOT account is active, the Portal Company Official is properly designated, and all business information is accurate and current ahead of the rollout. Avoid potential disruptions caused by registration issues by addressing these requirements in advance.

KEEPING THE
PORTAL UPDATED

Once the DOT number is linked, the portal must be maintained to ensure that it does not get deleted and remain active. If enrolled in a fully managed portal, Federal Applications Processor will do this for you.

All required updates and registrations should reflect the most current company information. With a fully managed portal, Federal Applications Processor will manage deadlines and required compliance upkeep within the account.
